Uncanny X-Force #18 (Marvel Comics, released: December 14, 2011)

The fight between Psylocke, Fantomex and Archangel rages on. Archangel gains the upper hand and Fantomex calls on an Apocalypse he’s been growing (for lack of a better term) in The World to help. This version of Apocalypse is called Genesis and gives Archangel a good fight but Archangel still manages to defeat him. While Archangel is distracted with Genesis, Psylocke is able to finally thrust the life seed into Archangel. As he dies, Psylocke creates images of their happy future together so that he may pass peacefully. As the team gets ready to leave, Warren approaches them in Angel form and Psylocke is so relieved to see him alive. All is not well, though, as Warren has no memory of what happened or even who Psylocke is.

A good ending to the story, it was still full-on action until the end. Through all the chances that they had to take Archangel down, Psylocke finally manages to do it, despite being the person that would be most unlikely to. I found the semi-death scene to be quite touching, a glimpse into a future that could have been. I don’t know what to say about the Genesis character, though. He felt like a a plot device that was only there to act as a distraction. Could he have been put to better use, considering Fantomex had been growing him for so long? Of course. But maybe that could still happen in future issues.

For all the talk of Psylocke and Fantomex (who have really become the stars of this series), Wolverine and Deadpool are still languishing around. It was interesting to see Wolverine incapacitated for about half this storyline. Deadpool got frozen and shattered into a million pieces, I’ll be interested to see how he comes back. The Dark Angel Saga ends on a high note and it really is still ongoing because we have Dark Beast running around with Pestilence, who is bearing Archangel’s kin.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.0

About The Site

I like to talk about comics so obviously I need a website. Who doesn't? At comics, please!, you can find comic reviews and videos and lots of fun stuff so you should visit comics, please! every day or you'll regret it! Don't say I didn't warn you!

Who is 604comics?

I'm just a guy that likes comics. Is that too much to ask? I started reading comics when I was a teen but took a long break and have just recently started up again. I missed out on a lot of stuff in the comic world! But now I'm back and I'm never going to leave. I wonder if I've made the right decision...
